Bringing Noah’s Ark to Life: A Stunning 3D Display Delights Camp Meeting Attendees at Lake Junaluska

At this year’s Lake Junaluska camp meeting, the Beginners class was treated to an extraordinary 3D representation of Noah’s Ark that captured the imagination of both children and adults.

The ark was a central part of the Beginners classroom theme for the week, tying in with their focus on the story of Noah’s Ark.

Crafted by Les Leicht from Greenville, N.C., the display featured 367 bird and animal figures. A dedicated Beginners Sabbath school teacher, Leicht found a creative way to bring the story of Noah’s Ark to life for young learners. The attention to detail was noteworthy, with a diverse array of creatures, from colorful parrots to majestic giraffes, and even a detailed portrayal of Noah’s family.

This was the third time the ark had been showcased at camp meetings, having previously been displayed at Nosoca Pines Ranch and used for Vacation Bible School programs. Transporting the ark requires all 367 figures to be carefully removed and later reassembled, a process that takes Leicht about four hours. His masterpiece is the result of a decade of dedicated craftsmanship, during which it underwent several improvements, including the addition of windows for better visibility of the animals and LED lights to illuminate each chamber.

Leicht’s passion for creating a captivating learning environment for young minds was evident in the ark’s intricate details, creating an engaging and immersive experience for all who saw it.
